Department of Orthodontics; It is a branch of dentistry that includes the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of problematic tooth alignments, jaw closure disorders and facial irregularities. It works to provide a good aesthetic, speech and function by solving the existing disorders. While helping the jaw development in children and helping the teeth to be in the correct positions, it provides correction of existing crowding and bite disorders in adults. Various treatments are applied according to the existing anomaly and growth and development status of the patient.
While general dentists focus on treatments related to the health of teeth and gums, orthodontists deal with tooth alignments and jaw relationships. In our country, orthodontics specialisation requires 4 years of specialisation training on 5 years of dentistry education.
